Pulp will be the recipient of this year's Teenage Cancer Trust Outstanding Contribution To Music award at The NME Awards 2012.

Pulp will pick up the coveted award in person and are also confirmed to play live at the ceremony which takes place at London's O2 Academy Brixton onWednesday 29 February.

Pulp's all-conquering live return in 2011 reminded us exactly why we all fell head-over-heels for them over two decades ago. Responsible for anthems including 'Common People', 'Disco 2000', 'Lipgloss', 'Babies', 'Sorted For Es and Whiz' and 'Do You Remember The First Time' along with a plethora of essential album's including His N Hers the 90's defining Different Class and This Is Hardcore there's no act more deserving of this prestigious award.

The Teenage Cancer Trust Outstanding Contribution To Music award is a very special accolade, along with the Godlike Genius Award (which this year goes to Noel Gallagher), and it is chosen by NME to recognise services to music. The award is in its third year and previous recipients include PJ Harvey and The Specials.

An incredible eight million votes have been cast so far for this year's Awards, Arctic Monkeys have scored seven nominations, Noel Gallagher (NME Awards 2012's Godlike Genius) is up for four other awards while the likes of Muse, Kasasbian and Florence + The Machine are up for three. The Horrors, Hurts and The Vaccines are among the acts with nods in two categories. Along with Pulp also confirmed to perform on the night are Noel Gallagher, Kasabian and The Vaccines whilst Florence Welch and The Horrors are gearing up for a very special collaboration.
