British rockers You Me at Six shock their fans by admitting Coldplay are “the best band ever”.

In an exclusive interview with Absolute Radio’s Pete Donaldson at their last gig of the year, You Me at Six revealed they’ve been given loads of stick from their supporters after taking to Twitter to claim Coldplay are “the best band ever” – and went even further by saying they wish they’d written one of Chris Martin’s biggest hits ‘Fix You’. Not content with their massive upcoming would tour, You Me at Six now have their sights set on supporting Coldplay and have put out a direct appeal angling for a support slot.

Chatting to Pete as part of the ‘Absolute Radio Presents the Hard Rock 40th Anniversary Sessions’, they also talked about how the recession is killing live music because fans can no longer afford to pay to see live gigs, and said there’s not many bands who can tour back to back.

As for the Christmas party season, Max from the band admitted he’d woken up on the morning of the interview covered in crisps, and not remembering very much about the night before...
