The U.K. is about to get their own version of the U.S. smash hit The Voice and one of the judges will be none other than Sir Tom Jones.

The Voice premiered in the U.S. last spring to huge ratings in a business saturated with talent shows. Two factors contribute to the show's success, the concept of the judges each "owning" a team of singers that they pick through blind auditions (hearing voice only) and the panel of high profile performers made up of Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo Green, Adam Levine of Maroon 5 and Blake Shelton.

The British version will also use a panel of proven stars with will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, Danny O'Donoghue of The Script, Jessie J and Jones.

Tom said of his new job "This is a strong show. It's all about talent - but it's also exciting, competitive and compelling television.

"I've been blessed over the years to share the stage with some of the world's finest artists, and I look forward to being part of the team that discovers a great, new, genuine talent."

BBC One Controller Danny Cohen added "I’m delighted to be announcing Tom Jones and Danny O’Donoghue as Coaches for The Voice. Tom is a music legend and will bring huge experience and creativity to the line-up. Danny is a rising star who will bring freshness and surprise to the team. Overall, our line-up of Tom Jones, Jessie J, will.i.am and Danny O’Donoghue gives us mega-star quality, great musical range and musicians we know our audience love."
