BFI’s African Odysseys strand presents a double-bill of music inspired films this December. The premiere screening of Bob Marley: The Making of a Legend comes from directors Esther Anderson (the former partner of Marley) and Gian Godoy and takes look at the Jamaica that influenced Marley's early years prior to his international success.

An independently financed film, made with a low budget aesthetic, creates an intimate and personal account of this extraordinary figure that would otherwise be missing in a more commercial production.

Also screening will be the new documentary, Exodus: Finding Shelter from directors Tommaso D'Elia and Silvia Bonanni. The documentary follows the fate of the massively successful Rototom Sunsplash reggae festival after local government opposition drove it out of its original home in Italy.
