Manchester, November 2011: Elbow’s triple platinum disk, a rare vinyl set and Dizzy Rascal’s baseball cap are just some of the unique items up for grabs as part of an online charity auction kicking off this week.

Some of the music world’s biggest names have donated signed CDs, records, t-shirts, posters and other one-of-a-kind musical merchandise to MAG for its Music Beats Mines online auction, starting Friday.

Elbow front man, Guy Garvey, is a long-term supporter of the charity and its work clearing landmines and weapons in countries affected by war. As well as donating a signed triple platinum disk presented to the band earlier this year to celebrate mammoth sales of The Seldom Seen Kid, he is urging people to log onto the online auction to win some special presents in time for Christmas.

“You can get your mitts on loads of exclusive musical memorabilia without even having to leave your chair. So get bidding and don’t be cheap, think of the Christmas karma. You’ll be supporting an amazing cause,” said Guy.

Featuring items from TV and film as well as music’s finest, lots donated by The Arctic Monkeys, Clash legend Mick Jones, Vic Reeves and Simon Pegg will help raise money for MAG’s lifesaving operations worldwide:

• SIGNED and framed Elbow The Seldom Seen Kid Triple Platinum Disk Set

Guy added: “Whether you’re a listener to music or a player of it, this is your chance to support the campaign and help MAG clear more landmines and destroy more weapons.”

This year sees the third incarnation of the hugely successful Music Beats Mines auction, which has so far raised over £5,000 for MAG's global landmine clearance and armed violence reduction projects and attracted attention from all over the world.

The auction runs from 6pm on Friday 25 November to Sunday 4 December. You can check out items and get bidding here.
