The 16 finalists from this year’s X Factor series, alongside boy band giants One Direction and JLS, will be releasing a charity single in aid of Together For Short Lives.

The artists will release their cover of the Rose Royce classic ‘Wishing On A Star’ via download on November 27th and via physical single on November 28th, on Syco Music.

Syco will donate 100% of its profits from the sale of each CD single and download to Together For Short Lives (Registered Charity No: 1144022). This is expected to be at least £1 for each CD and 20p for each download. There are an estimated 23,500 children and young people across the UK unlikely to reach adulthood. Together for Short Lives is the only charity working to ensure that all of these children and their families get the best possible care wherever and whenever they need it.
Simon Cowell has worked closely with Together For Short Lives for many years and comments: "Having worked close hand with this charity and seeing the amazing work they do for kids and their families who need help and support, I am thrilled that the X Factor charity single this year will benefit this charity.’"

The single is the fourth charity release from X Factor, following last year's cover of David Bowie's 'Heroes', 2009's cover of Michael Jacksons's 'You Are Not Alone,' which supported Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital and 2008's 'Hero which raised over £1.3 million, again for the 'Help For Heroes' charity.

The finalists, alongside JLS and One Direction, recorded the single in London, produced by luminary music producer Biff (Spice Girls, Kylie Minogue, Will Young).
This year M&S will be stocking the single in stores nationwide, following the X Factor finalists stunning Christmas advert for the store.
