Alice Cooper insists he’s a “regular guy”.
The American rock singer is famed for his elaborate horror-themed stage shows that feature guillotines, electric chairs and baby dolls.
Alice insists his performances don’t reflect the real him.
“When I’m on stage, I take my act really seriously, but as soon as I walk off I’m just a regular guy,” he explained in an interview with OK! magazine.
Alice’s father and grandfather were both preachers. The 63-year-old star says his religious upbringing doesn’t affect his performances.
“When you say you’re a Christian, people picture you on your knees just praying all day, but Christian’s are just the same as everybody else – it’s just we know where you’re going to die,” he laughed.
“There’s nothing in The Bible that says I can’t be a performer. As for the props, they’re not real. It’s almost like a silly comedy!”
Alice has been married to wife Sheryl for 35 years, and the pair have three children together; daughters Calico and Sonora and son Dash. Alice insists the secret to his long-lasting marriage is honesty and faithfulness.
“Neither of us have [cheated]. It’s wrong that people are shocked by that – that should be the norm,” he said.
“I remember some guys in our band who’d say, ‘I’m only married when I’m not on tour’. But if you marry the person you love you won’t cheat on them.”
