Bryan Adams has stripped his music right back to the “bare bones” for his latest Aussie tour. Adams is performing in Australia for the first time playing his songs acoustically with just himself and pianist Gary Brett.
The ‘Bare Bones’ tour features Adams greatest hits played the way he originally wrote them. “I wrote everything on an acoustic guitar,” he told fans at his first Australian concert at the iconic Melbourne Palais Theatre in St Kilda.
The ‘Bare Bones’ show really showcases Adams the singer and Adams the musician. You can’t fake the acoustic show. You either sound great or awful and Adams minus rock band brings out his assets as a singer, musician and songwriter.
Songs you would think need an electric guitar like ‘Run To You’, ‘Summer of 69’ and ‘Cuts Like A Knife have a new life in this format.
The Adams ballads, ‘Everything I Do I Do It For You’, ‘Please Forgive Me’ and ‘Do I Really Have To Say The Words’ have a new dimension with just Bryan on the acoustic guitar and Gary on the keyboard.
Adams is 51 now and recently became a first time father. The intimate show suits him. It takes him right back to basics and you could tell he was enjoying it.
Bryan Adams has had a great history with Australia dating back to his first tour in 1984 as support act to The Police. You could tell the audience were major fans. They were often singing along to songs before Bryan.
