Kelly Rowland is putting a party ban on her X Factor contestants.

The American songstress is currently a judge on the hit British television show, alongside Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos. Kelly is mentoring the girl’s category on the popular talent show, and says she won’t let outside influences affect her budding young talent.

“There will be no alcohol, no smoking and no talking loud in clubs,” she told British newspaper The Mirror. “I didn’t go out until I was at least 22 and I didn’t party until two years ago. I’ve always been strict. I don’t drink a lot, I don’t smoke, I want to succeed.

“Don’t let anybody affect your focus – anything, anyone – or you will lose everything.”

Kelly has enlisted the help of Jennifer Hudson to help her select her four finalists from the eight that are through to the Judge’s House part of the competition. Kelly believes that her strict approach to mentoring will discourage the young hopefuls from getting too overwhelmed.

“We won’t have that problem,” she insisted when asked how she’ll deal with tantrums. “I’ll let them know I’m not dealing with that.”

Kelly wants to see the contestants become successful. The 30-year-old star thinks emerging talent should always strive to be more impressive than the current crop of chart stars.

“I want them to be better. Better than me, better than Lady Gaga, better than Beyoncé. Better than this generation. Each generation is meant to be better. I remember talking to Whitney Houston and she was saying, ‘It’s just getting better and it should continue to get better’. I heard Janet Jackson say that, too.

“I am the same. I always want to get better and I want my girls to be better.”
