A federal judge in California has rejected Madonna's contention that she owns the trademark for "Material Girl" and should be able to exclusively use it for her own clothing line.
Madonna's company, Material Girl Brand, has been fighting a lawsuit brought by LA Triumph who has been marketing Material Girl clothes since 1997.


The Kennedy Center Honors this year will go to Neil Diamond, Yo-Yo Ma, Sonny Rollins, Barbara Cook and Meryl Streep. The ceremony will be December 4 at the Kennedy Center and will air on CBS on December 27.


Jazz legend Ramsey Lewis has signed with Hidden Beach Records who will release his 80th recording on September 20, Ramsey, Taking Another Look. Lewis said of the signing "I am glad to join Steve McKeever, a fellow Chicagoan, and the Hidden Beach family to release Ramsey, Taking Another Look. Hidden Beach is known for it's commitment to excellence in music and respect for artistry, a unique position in today's music landscape."
Lewis had hits with Hang on Sloopy (1965/Pop #11/R&B #6), The "In" Crowd (1965/Pop #5/R&B #2), Wade in the Water (1966/Pop #19/R&B #3) and Sun Goddess (1975/Pop #44/R&B #20/Disco #5).


Status Quo keyboard player Andy Bown has released his sixth solo album, Unfinished Business. While that is not that unusual, the fact is that it is his first solo release in 33 years.
Bown told Classic Rock "Well, I’ve been busy. Seriously, Status Quo work so hard and for such long periods of time that it’s hard to find any time to do something like this. Besides, I’m also the laziest person in the music business."
