Kelly Rowland: I’m not a diva

Kelly Rowland isn’t a diva, she just needs to be around people she’s “cool with”.

The former Destiny’s Child singer is a judge on UK TV show The X Factor. It means she’s spending a lot of time away from her native America which she often finds hard.

Kelly knows her preference for having friends travel with her has led many to think she’s demanding, but she insists that couldn’t be further from the truth.

“People say, ‘Oh she’s a diva,’ but I’m not, it’s just that I’m far away from home and these are the folks I’m cool with,” she explained.

As well as her work with Destiny’s Child Kelly has had a successful solo career. She thinks her longevity in the music business makes her the perfect judge for the talent contest as she’ll be able to give the contestants sound advice.

“I know how tough the industry is – I’ve been in it for 15 years,” she told Look magazine. “It takes hard work to be at the top and even harder work to stay there.”
