Sir Tom Jones has been hospitalised in Monaco.

The legendary 71-year-old singer is in hospital after falling ill while performing in the Mediterranean. Tom suffered severely from the summer heat according to British newspaper The Mirror.

"Sir Tom was ordered by doctors not to perform in Monte Carlo yesterday evening due to severe dehydration," a statement on the singer’s website read.

Although he has not left hospital, Tom’s health is not in as dire a condition as was previously reported. Tom’s representatives confirm that he is not suffering from heart problems.

“There are no heart problems, as has been reported in the press,” the statement continued.

Tom is more concerned with his fans’ happiness than his health at the moment. Not being able to perform at his Monte Carlo show was heartbreaking for him.

"This was extremely disappointing for Tom, the band and all connected with the tour. This was the last date of a very successful three-month tour, where many of the shows were in locations that were in the throes of high summer heat,” explained Tom’s representatives.

"Sir Tom wants to relay his deep regrets for causing disappointment and inconvenience to all who would have come to enjoy his show last night. He thanks everyone for their understanding and support and hopes to see the fans in Monte Carlo again soon."
