Bono of U2 says that he did not have a heart scare over the weekend and was only at Monaco's Princess Grace Hospital for a routine checkup.
A spokesman for the singer said in a statement "Despite press stories to the contrary, Bono has not suffered a recent health scare. Reports of his being rushed to hospital for emergency treatment are untrue. Bono is in good health and enjoying a family holiday in the south of France."
Rod Stewart became a grandfather again on Sunday when his daughter Kimberly gave birth to a daughter. The father is actor Benicio Del Toro who is no longer involved with Stewart.
At the hospital at the time of the birth were Rod and his wife, Penny Lancaster-Stewart and Kimberly's mother Alana Stewart.
Aretha Franklin has floated the rumor that Taylor Hackford will be directing the biopic of her life. She told Billboard "I don't want to use his [the direcor's] name until it's on the dotted line. I can tell you that he's had several blockbusters in the last five to 10 years. Go back to the movie Ray."
As far as a star, she is "still thinking between several ladies."
It was also announced today that Franklin will be this year's honoree for the American Music Masters series at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She will be the subject of a week-long celebration starting on October 31.
The Metallica and Lou Reed album will be called Lulu and is based on two plays by German expressionist writer Frank Wededkind.
According to a statement from Metalica, "After coming together with the ’Tallica boys for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concerts in New York in 2009 all guilty parties knew they wanted to make more music together. Lou was inspired enough by that performance to recently ask the band to join him in taking his theatrical Lulu piece to the next level and so starting in early May of this year we were all camped out recording at HQ studios in Northern California, bringing us to today and 10 complete songs."
The upcoming Kiss album will be called Monster. Gene Simmons recently told Classic Rock magazine that it is a cross between Destroyer and Revenge.
George Michael announced during the first night of his Symphonica Tour that he and long-time partner Kenny Goss are no longer together and, in fact, had not been so for 2-1/2 years.
Ross Barbour, who was the last surviving member of the Four Freshmen, passed away on Saturday from cancer at the age of 82. His cousin, Bob Flanagan, died three months ago.
