Brand new tracks from Paul van Dyk‘s upcoming album EVOLUTION will be presented against a back-drop of never before seen production. The show promises to eclipse any previous PvD shows, taking electronic music performance to the next level and setting new standards in sound, stage design and visuals.
Paul van Dyk needs no introduction; quite simply he is a world-class dance institution. But this show is something new. It's all about maximisation of technology to a spectacular conclusion - pushing the boundaries as far as they will go both musically and visually. Paul has worked alongside set designers to take electronic performance to a whole new level. He commented;
“I am working together with some amazing people, doing stage design and light design. I came to them with the idea of actually going through those different phases of evolution. These days you see a lot of DJs touring with impressive video screens and stuff like that, and all you see is different kind of bubbles for 2-3 hours. I didn’t want that, I wanted to actually have something that really illustrates the album, something exciting, something awe inspiring. We took a lot of effort, and a lot of creative energy.”
With unrivalled technical genius and visionary passion Paul van Dyk continues to explode boundaries in technological innovation. His studio production skills are unparalleled, and he has used an experimental and mind-bending live setup to create a new concept in live electronic music.
The show is structured in three acts; an explosive high energy intro sequence featuring bespoke and synced video content as well as strong and dynamic lighting looks telling the story of "EVOLUTION", within the main section the lighting and video cues are completely reactive to what Paul decides to play. The third and final part of the set once again sees bespoke and synced video being used to tie in with the outdo music, concluding with an encore with some of Paul's most emotive tracks. The live performance will also feature an armory of explosive special effects such as CO2 jets, lasers and streamer shots all to heighten intensity of Paul’s set.
The Gatecrasher partnership with van Dyk started back in 1998 when Paul began his residency at Gatecrasher's Sheffield club. Van Dyk's triumphant 6 hrs sets are now immortalised in clubbing history culminating in the never-to- be- forgotten "2000GC" Millennium Eve event at the Don Valley Stadium. Paul has since been a regular at Gatecrasher's infamous nights throughout the world and this is the ultimate stop on the EVOLUTION tour.
