Eminem has reportedly been paid £2 million for just two performances.

The American rapper took to the stage at the UK’s V Festival over the weekend. The event is held in two locations, one in Staffordshire and one in Essex, with stars performing at both.

Eminem took to the stage for 90 minutes in each place, playing a host of his best-known hits including Cleanin' Out My Closet, Stan, My Name Is and The Real Slim Shady.

According to British newspaper The Sun, he was paid £1 million for each performance. Rihanna also appeared at the festival, and received £500,000 for each of her turns on the stage. The pair famously collaborated on last year’s hit Love The Way You Lie, with Rihanna joining the rapper on stage for renditions of the song.

“Eminem is a smart guy. Him and his management know they'll make cash quicker and without the hassle of organising and promoting gigs. He has few overheads. He only needs roadies and a DJ,” a source told the publication.

Eminem’s set-list included 25 of his best-known tracks. His rendition of single Stan, released in the year 2000, was such a roaring success the crowd began to shout for the 38-year-old to “turn up” the sound.

The rapper hadn’t played in the UK for several years before this weekend and is understood to have decided a festival performance would be more worth his time than a run of stadium shows.
