Liam Gallagher is launching a lawsuit against brother Noel, accusing him of “lying”.

The siblings shot to fame in rock group Oasis back in the 90s, and were known for their tumultuous relationship. The band went their separate ways in 2009, and now Liam is launching a lawsuit against Noel following claims the latter made about him cancelling a concert for being hung-over.

Last month at a press conference Noel claimed Oasis couldn’t play a show at the 2009 V Festival in Essex, UK, because his brother had drunk too much alcohol the night before. The official reason for the annulment at the time was that Liam had laryngitis.

"That is a lie and I want Oasis fans to know the truth,” Liam expressed in a statement.

"I was gutted when I couldn't play the gig because I didn't want to let the fans down. The truth is I had laryngitis, diagnosed by a doctor, preventing me performing that night."

Noel had also made suggestions Oasis separated because Liam wanted to promote his fashion label Pretty Green in the programme for the band’s tour. Liam is eager to explain this wasn’t the case.

"There are many reasons why Oasis split. But it had nothing to do with my clothing range," he asserted.

It is thought that Liam is feeling sorrowful about the lengths he has had to go to, arguing that he felt there was no other solution.

"Liam felt he had no choice but the courts. He feels a mix of anger at how he has been treated by his own elder brother and sadness it has come to this,” a source told British newspaper The Sun.

"Liam is an old-school rock star. I'm sure there have been times when he has taken to the stage after a big one the night before. But that night he had laryngitis.

"He lived for being the frontman of Oasis and singing in front of millions of fans."
