Jesse Hughes of Eagles of Death Metal fame will release his debut solo album ‘Honkey Kong’ in September under the name of Boots Electric.

Hughes co-wrote the record with Beastie Boys collaborator Money Mark. Tony Hoffer produced it.

Hughes cites Little Richard as his biggest influence. He went to school in Palms Springs, California and that is where he met Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age. The two formed Eagles of Death Metal in 1998.

‘Honkey Kong’ by Boots Electric will be released on Dangerbird Records on September 23rd, 2011.
