The 31-year-old singer – who has seven-month-old daughter Madilyn with on/off girlfriend Monyetta Shaw – does not think it takes a lot to impress him, but in return thinks the ladies in his life should not expect too much of him because his career is so schedule-consuming.
He told BANG Showbiz: "You know what, you make the time for things that are important to you. How do I make a girl feel special? By giving her my time because I don't have a lot of it.
"I'm not very difficult to impress. Just be natural, not too much make-up, you know. Take care of yourself, make sure that you look presentable and I'll notice you."
When Ne-Yo does have time off, he spends a lot of hours in the gym, and rarely gets to relax in front of the television.
He said: "I go to the gym almost every day, like an hour and a half a day.
"I don't get to watch a lot of TV, but I might catch a show or two of 'X Factor'. I didn't know Nicole Scherzinger was replacing Cheryl Cole. I'm so out of the loop, I'm in a cave."
