The 28-year-old rapper is working on his upcoming ninth studio album Tha Carter IV, which is due to be released in August of this year, and he is hoping it will be a hit.

One of the tracks on the album is called Nightmares of the Bottom, and the artist has opened up about the meaning of the track. Wayne says that although sometimes success makes him feels alone, he’d rather be in that situation than facing failure.

“I mean simply, sleeping at the top with nightmares of the bottom," he told MTV News. "Everybody says it's lonely at the top. It is lonely, so I dream, though, and the only thing I dream about is being down there with the people that ain't lonely. Thank God I am alone."

Wayne says he doesn’t want to be a failure. After the success of his previous albums, the long-haired rapper insists the “bottom” is a long way down.

"And that's simply what it is: nightmares of the bottom," he added. "Sleeping at the top/ Nightmares of the bottom/ Everybody wanna be fly, until you swat 'em."

Lil Wayne is featuring in an Unplugged production for MTV. The network’s executive vice president of music and talent Amy Doyle says the star is an incredible artist to watch performing live.

"Lil Wayne is an amazing choice for Unplugged as he is at hip-hop's forefront - leading a new generation of artists whose appeal spans across music genres and playlists," she said in a statement. "Lil Wayne's skills, influence, and catalogue are a powerful addition to the legacy of artists who have rocked the Unplugged stage."
