Live electronic band The Japanese Popstars, have carved out an enviable reputation in last few years, rivalling the biggest names in dance as the must-see live act with a coruscating show of foot-stomping, speaker smashing dance music that will blow you away. They release new single ‘Joshua’ feat. Tom Smith from The Editors on June 13.

In this groundbreaking new Facebook app, Joshua the baboon (as seen on the ‘Controlling Your Allegiance’ cover – out June 20th) comes alive creating a new online experience for fans and their friends, and enabling fans to appear in their own personal version of the music video for ‘Joshua’ (single out 22 May / impact date 20 June). A first of its kind for the industry, with the end result allowing each user to hold their own unique version of the online video.

Within a tab on The Japanese Popstars Facebook page lies Joshua – an animated baboon confined restlessly in his cage, hungry and howling.

Fans will be able to interact with this baboon by feeding him their Facebook friends, in turn letting their friend’s know they’ve been eaten. On top of that, in this groundbreaking new app, the users’ image, along with the images of the friends they have fed to the baboon, will appear in the actual Music Video - in a sense making this the first really personal Official Music Video.

‘Joshua’ is the next single from The Japanese Popstars forthcoming album ‘Controlling Your Allegiance’ (out June 20th) featuring Tom Smith from The Editors. The album features a host of further collaborations, including The Cure’s Robert Smith, Jon Spencer (of Blues Explosion fame), Chicago House Legend Green Velvet and psych folk singer James Vincent McMorrow. Together with four nominations for the 2011 Irish Dance Music Awards, The Japanese Popstars are well on course to be one of the rising acts of the Summer.
