The 'What a Waster' group ignited fans hopes of a full scale reunion after they played two festival shows at Reading and Leeds in the UK last year, but singer and guitarist Carl alleged his factitious relationship with co-frontman Pete Doherty has prevented this from happening.
He told NME magazine: "Right now there is no Libertines future. We are all in very different places. Right now is not the time for The Libertines. I thought the water under the bridge was under the bridge, but maybe it's not. It's a very f***ing hard thing. Every time we talk it just brings it back up."
Since the band – which also includes John Hassall and Gary Powell - split in 2004, Pete has formed another group, Babyshambles and released a solo album, while Carl found success with the his band Dirty Pretty Things before releasing a solo album last year.
He added: "I don't believe we're healed from the hurt. If our hearts heal up then we can break them all over again. But right now - it's hard."
A film about the group, 'There Are No Innocent Bystanders' will be released later this year.
