Iggy Pop and Kesha have both appeared in a new PETA campaign against seal clubbing in Canada.

Under the slogan ‘Canada’s Club Scene Sucks’, both the Iggster and She Who Has A Dollar Sign In Her Name have appeared on posters decrying Canada’s baby-seal slaughter.

Canada is now winding up for the peak Spring period of the seal hunting season.

PETA have been protesting the annual hunt for years and it seems to be working – last year the season was cut short because demand for seal pelts had dropped (most likely due to the EU import ban in 2009).

Kesha’s poster claims that not only is the hunt cruel but “it wastes millions of tax dollars”, referring to the ongoing regulation and subsidisation of a diminishing economic asset.

Iggy’s goes straight for the gusto, reading: "Clubbing baby seals is sick and gives Canada a black eye. Don’t let the greed of a few tarnish the image of the whole country."

US Magazine published photos of the posters, noting that Iggy and Kesha are joining celebs such as Sarah McLachlan, Ryan Reynolds, Pamela Anderson, Bryan Adams and Peaches in opposing the annual slaughter.
