The original handwritten lyrics of The Beatles ‘Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds’, written by John Lennon, will be auctioned next month.

The early draft of the lyrics features the first verse and a sketch of four people in a room.

The song was released on The Beatles ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ album in 1967 amongst controversy. At the time, it was suggested that the title was a reference to the drug LSD but Lennon said the inspiration came from his son Julian who had drawn a sketch of his school friend Lucy Vodden.

The ‘Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds’ handwritten lyrics will be auctioned over May 14 and 15 at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills. It is expected to sell for $200,000.
