Solidarity with the London Underground workers!
So the fight to save the Underground continues. In spite of a brave fight back by union members in this ongoing dispute and flying in the face of public opinion, broken promises by the Mayor, Boris Johnson have resulted in ticket office closures, reduction in station staff jobs with further cuts to come. Customers queue for working Oyster-card readers to pay inflated ticket prices next to shuttered ticket office windows Unsafe, unstaffed stations will limit access for disabled passengers and have implication for safety and evacuations for everyone. Trade union members are being undermined and trade union reps being sacked on trumped up charges.

The Godfathers, Subway Sect, and Jerry Dammers (Specials) will be playing great music, showing solidarity with the tube workers and offering help and protection to beat the bully and stop the underground becoming a subterranean “Ghost Town’!
The Godfathers originally formed in 1985 and are touted as one of the best live rock bands of their generation. Over the years leading up to their split in 2001, they released a number of critically acclaimed albums and performed extensively across the globe. After reforming in 2008, this band continue to set the world alight touring extensively and back to business creating new material. Having the opportunity to see this band in such a relatively intimate setting like Jamm is an opportunity that will not happen very often so we advise you to grab it with both hands!
Vic Godard's original punk legends Subway Sect, who played at the infamous 1976 punk festival at the 100 Club with the Pistols and the Clash, Subway Sect were always distinguished from the rest by Godard's wonderful songwriting - as can be heard on their new album, "We Come As Aliens". A real zeitgeist record for the times we are living in, and possibly the best thing the Sect have ever done.
Another special appearance and DJ set will be from Jerry Dammers, founder member of the Specials and label Two Tone. The man behind chart topping track 'Ghost Town' and other hits such as 'Free Nelson Mandela', 'Gangsters' and 'Too Much Too Young' will be digging deep into his record box and providing some incredible beats for the occasion as he plays a closing set that will finish the night with a bang and send everyone off into the night.
With a host of support bands and DJs playing dub, ska , reggae & dubstep to deep house, alt-pop, Cajun and country gospel, speakers from the trade unions and student from the cuts and fees fight, and food by the Brixton Tea Party, this eclectic ‘all-day’ fun fundraiser 4.00pm—12.30am will also act as a focus for the massive TUC/ March for the Alternative – Jobs and Justice, the following Saturday 26 March.
