A lawsuit between Michael Cohl, the man who has produced the Rolling Stones tours for the last two decades, and concert giant Live Nation may have let slip the fact that a Stones tour is/was in the planning stages for late-2011.
The two parties have filed cross lawsuits, Live Nation saying that Cohl breached an agreement he had with the company when he left it in 2008. In the other direction, Cohl has sued Live Nation saying that they had breached the contract and were attempting to interfere with his right to work on the Stones tour set for the latter part of 2011.
The agreement in dispute has Cohl paying Live Nation $9.85 million in installments so that he could retain the opportunity to promote tours by artists like the Stones, Barbra Streisand and Pink Floyd. Cohl still owes Live Nation $5.35 million of that amount which he says he has not paid as the company has not lived up to their side of the agreement. This triggered a letter from Live Nation last February informing Cohl that they intended on bidding against him for the next Stones tour.
It is also known that the Stones are aware of the dispute but do not want to get involved which leads to the question, is a late-2011 tour now in jeopardy unless the two sides can settle their differences?
