Everything Everything winners in the 2011 South Bank Sky Arts Awards

Hosted by Melvyn Bragg, the 15th South Bank Sky Arts Awards was held earlier today in London and will be broadcast on Sky Arts at 9pm tonight.

The Times Breakthrough Award is the only award decided by public vote and the winner was announced today as Everything Everything.

Previous winners of South bank Awards include Florence + the Machine (pop category), while The XX were shortlisted for this very same Breakthrough Award last year. Everything Everything beat an array of new talents within varying fields of arts & culture to win in 2011.

This brilliant news comes days before the announcement of the winner the Guardian First Album Award for which their debut ‘Man Alive’ is shortlisted.

In addition to these two highly acclaimed marks of recognition they are also nominated for their first NME award in the Best New Band category – to be announced on February 23.
