A slew of hot indie bands contribute to a charity album to assist those who have been affected by the Gulf oil spill.

The charity, Global Green USA, has put together a compilation to restore parts of the Gulf Coast which were destroyed by the massive oil spill this year.

The compilation is titled Gasoline Rainbows, from the title track by Amy Kuney.

Others who chip in include Vampire Weekend, Phoenix, LCD Soundsystem, Silversun Pickups, The Black Keys, The National, Passion Pit, Surfer Blood, Black Rebel Motorcyle Club and Damien Rice.

The proceeds will not only be dedicated to cleaning up the coast, but Global Green USA also channel funds to research to prevent future environmental disasters.

Gasoline Rainbows will be available through iTunes from November 30.
