The Prince's Trust Rock Galas were originally organized in the 1980's at a time when the British economy was trying to recover from a major recession. Money from the shows went to disadvantaged youths to help them in finding employment.

Brian May is an ambassador for the Trust. He recently said "Our last performance [in 1988] at the Rock Gala had one aim…to raise money for youngsters struggling to find work after a recession. Unfortunately we find ourselves in the same situation twenty years on and I’m helping the best way I know how."

"We are thrilled to have the support of ambassadors like Brian May and Jools Holland,” says Martina Milburn, Chief Executive of The Prince’s Trust. “The money raised will allow us to make massive changes to the lives of thousands of young people during a very difficult time."
