The ‘Mean Girls’ actress - who was admitted to the UCLA Medical Center earlier this month after serving less than two weeks of a 90-day jail sentence – is said to be “passionate” about helping other women she has met in the facility.

Sources told gossip website TMZ that the 24-year-old star “genuinely wants to help” other patients and has taken to writing them inspirational notes and giving advice.

And unlike her stint in jail when Lindsay was accused of getting preferential treatment – with one inmate claiming that a member of staff had to scour the prison for a specific book for her to read - it has been claimed that nurses are actually harder on her to show they're not playing favourites.

The actress doesn't have a window in her room and cannot change the channels on her TV as it is behind glass.

Lindsay’s mother Dina said last week that Lindsay had also made some friends during her stint at the Century Regional Correctional Facility in Lynwood, California.

She said: “She's great. She's been through a lot. The judge played hardball. Lindsay was in with alleged murderers and she's become friends with a lot of them. Lindsay rolled with the punches and she's doing wonderfully.”

Lindsay was sentenced to 90 days in prison and a 90-day stint in rehab after breaching the terms of probation set for her 2007 driving under the influence conviction.
