will.i.am thinks song requests are a big "no-no".

The multitalented music star has collaborated with the likes of Britney Spears and is also a producer and DJ.

When he takes a turn on the decks he has certain rules he would prefer his audience to abide by, including letting him pick the tracks.

"[Requesting songs], that's a big no-no! No, you should just put your iPhone on and just download the track," he revealed to Australian radio show hosts Kyle and Jackie O.

The Black Eyed Peas rapper released album #willpower last month, which includes the Britney collaboration Scream & Shout.

The stars are in talks about recording more songs together and have been discussing the direction their new music could take.

"Yeah, we have been having lunches and just vibing and talking about working and our history and the things we've been through in life and talking about how that influences the music," he explained.

"People don't do that these days; people just go into the studio and there's no research to give it meaning. [Our new music is] looking personal."

will is also a mentor on the UK version of singing show The Voice alongside Jessie J, Sir Tom Jones and The Script's Danny O'Donoghue.

With versions in other countries, including Australia and the US, will tries to stay away from watching anything but the British show.

"I find it hard to watch other Voices," he admitted.

"It's like watching a different family in your house doing it where you do it. It's like seeing someone in your bed!"
