Tool's guitarist and drummer say that they’re likely to release a new album this year.

Drummer Danny Carey and guitarist Justin Chancellor spoke to triple j while hitting Sydney for the Big Day Out.

They were cagey about revealing too much information about their forthcoming fifth album, their first since 2006’s 10,000 Days.

They joked that because of the delays they should call it 50,000 Days.

Carey said of a title, “That's usually the last thing that happens and we argue about that while we're making the final master of the record. We don't even have names for the songs until then.”

They said that they hope to have a new album out by the end of the year, which would be the longest the band has gone without releasing an album.
