Tom Cruise will be dusting off his fake moustache next week in memory of Freddie Mercury.

He has backed the Freddie For A Day campaign which urges people to dress up as the Queen singer on September 3rd to raise money for charity.

An event will take place at the Savoy with last year's event attended by Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, Stephen Fry and Chris Evans.

After preparing for his role in Rock of Ages, Tom commented: "I spent months studying the history of rock 'n' roll for my role as Stacee Jaxx and Queen and Freddie were a big part of that."

Previous supporters of the campaign have also included Katy Perry who has previously dressed as Freddie. All money raised goes to charities around the world to help the fight against AIDS.

Now into its third year, Freddie For A Day, the worldwide marker of the life and legend of the late, great Freddie Mercury timed around his birth date, is gearing up to once again turn us into a nation of moustaches for a day while raising funds to combat AIDS which claimed Freddie in 1991.
