Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have welcomed a son.

The singer-and-actor confirmed he and Jessica were expecting a baby on his 34th birthday in January following months of speculation.

His spokesperson has now confirmed Jessica has given birth to a little boy.

According to People magazine the tot is called Silas Randall Timberlake, and both mother and baby are doing well. The couple are said to be “ecstatic” about the new arrival, but have decided to keep all other details about him and his birth private.

Justin announced Jessica’s pregnancy on his Twitter page, posting a picture of him kissing her bump complete with comments such as “#BoyOrGirl #YouNeverKnow #WeDontEvenKnow (sic)”. These are thought to have been a dig at media reports the new arrival would be a girl.

Jessica has kept largely out of the limelight while expecting, although Justin has been public with his support for her. He posted a gushing birthday message to her on Twitter when she turned 33 in March, calling her the “goofiest and most bad-ass chick” he knows.

Late last month the star also paid tribute to his wife when he was handed the Innovation Award at the iHeartRadio ceremony.

"You can't have innovation without creations, so finally I want to thank my best friend, my favourite collaborator, my wife Jessica at home who's watching," he told the audience. "Honey, I can't wait to see our greatest creation yet. Don't worry, Daddy's headed home right now to innovate by learning how to change a poopy diaper and get my swaddle on."
