The Rolling Stones have wrapped up their ‘50 and Counting’ 50th anniversary show at Hyde Park in London.
“You’ve been a fantastic audience! This is the last show of the tour. We want to thank you for coming to our shows for all these years,” Mick Jagger told the audience before performing ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’.
London turned on the heat for the final Stones gigs with temperatures reaching over 30c. “It’s fantastic to see you all here! The hottest day of the year so far, are you surviving? Good,” Mick said.
The final show lacked surprises. There were no special guests and no songs performed for the first time on the tour but the Stones did do ‘Emotional Rescue’ for the first time ever in Europe. The 1980 dance hit debuted for the first time ever live for the band in May in Los Angeles on this tour. It appeared regularly in the setlist on the tour and was played 17 times at the 29 shows.
The most played songs on the tour were ‘Midnight Rambler’, ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’, ‘Start Me Up’, ‘Brown Sugar’ and ‘Miss You’, played at every show.
At time of publication, no further Rolling Stones dates have been announced.
