The Libertines walked out onto the Pyramid Stage at 8:25pm to a surprised and rapturous welcome from the sold-out crowd at Glastonbury.

The band, who had never played the Pyramid Stage before, said “it was always something we wanted to do and it lived up to all our expectations - very exciting.” They would also like to thank Festival Republic for agreeing for them to play prior to their headlining appearances at the Reading and Leeds Festivals at the end of August.

The nineteen song set at Glastonbury included three songs from the bands new album - Gunga Djin, Anthem For Doomed Youth and You’re My Waterloo. The Libertines have already left Glastonbury by helicopter and are flying to Russia tonight to play at the Ahmad Tea Music Festival in Moscow tomorrow.
