Director Robert Zemeckis will no longer be remaking The Beatles ‘Yellow Submarine’.

The Back To The Future director had planned to remake The Beatles’ animated classic but told Total Film “it’s probably better not to be remade”.

Zemeckis was originally going to remake the movie with Disney but they pulled out of the project in 2011. He then had the rights to take the movie to other studios but has now dropped the project completely.

The original movie was restored for DVD this year.

Robert Zemeckis and The Beatles company Apple Corps were planning on using new technology to remake ‘Yellow Submarine’ with the same animations used in Zemeckis’ ‘Beowulf: A Christmas Carol’.

16 Beatles songs were selected for the new movie soundtrack and actors Cary Elwes, Dean Lennox Kelly, Peter Serafinowicz and Adam Campbell were chosen to play the Fab 4.
