Taylor Momsen doesn't court controversy.

The Pretty Reckless singer often makes headlines for her outspoken comments and is also well known for her seductive, gothic fashion sense.

The bad press doesn't faze the 20-year-old though, as she is content in the knowledge that being gossiped about comes part and parcel with being a star.

"I definitely don’t try to cause controversy. I just do my sh*t and people talk about it," Taylor candidly told British newspaper Metro.

In the past Taylor has joked about her sexual conquests, once telling a New Zealand radio show that she'd slept with a priest. What shocked listeners more was that she was only 17 at the time.

She's also commented that she never leaves home without a flick knife, a quote that saw UK charity Crimestoppers label her "naive and reckless".

"Well in America, those flick knives aren’t illegal and you can buy them in truck stops. We tour so much, we’re always in truck stops and buying the weird sh*t they sell in them becomes a fun activity for the band. Some of the things I’ve said have been taken out of context but you can’t control that," she conceded.

After a stint as an actress, playing Jenny Humphrey in hit show Gossip Girl, Taylor is now solely focused on music.

Her band's new album Going to Hell has prompted Taylor to question the afterlife.

"I don’t believe there’s a hole in the ground with demons in it but I could be wrong. Hell is all around us – it’s the way we treat each other and the way we treat the Earth. We already live in it," she sighed.

A return to acting is unlikely for the blonde star, but she said there is one role she could never turn down.

"The only role I’d say yes to is Thor in the Avengers films but Chris Hemsworth’s got that locked down," she laughed. "Thor is the coolest character. He’s the god of thunder, the god of lightning and he’s got that hammer. That’s the only acting job I’d want. I’m more about writing, touring and making records until I physically can’t do it anymore."
