Taylor Momsen thinks people live “fake” lives on the internet.

The Pretty Reckless singer found fame on Gossip Girl and has now made a name for herself in the music industry too.

She uses Twitter to promote her albums, but doesn’t have much of an interest in being online.

“I just don’t know how to work it very well. I don’t really care about it all,” she shrugged to British newspaper The Daily Star when asked about the internet.

“I don’t really care about living my life on a fake life.

“You close a computer and it no longer exists. I also don’t know how to work it, either.

“I don’t know if it’s just ignorance or if it’s me choosing to not keep up with trends or caring to keep up. I guess I don’t really care. I’d rather be painting or something.”

The 20-year-old played Jenny Humphrey on Gossip Girl, a young girl who starts off sweet but turns bratty when she’s introduced to a lavish lifestyle.

It was tough for Taylor to shake off her image as an actress, but she feels that people are starting to appreciate her for her music.

“It definitely was a struggle to overcome the actress-turned-musician stereotype,” she admitted.

“I was a musician way before I was an actress anyway. I play piano, I play guitar, I’ve been writing songs since I was a kid.

“But it’s been five years now since I acted and that transition has definitely happened.

“The people coming to shows aren’t bringing Gossip Girl DVDs to get signed, you know?”

The Pretty Reckless’ second album, Going to Hell, was released this month.
