Taylor Swift has named her new kitten after a Law & Order: SVU character.

The 24-year-old country music darling is the mother of an adorable tiny white furball, which she introduced to the world on Instagram Wednesday evening.

“Meet Olivia Benson,” she wrote, a reference to the character on the hit US crime drama played by Mariska Hargitay.
The photo shows Taylor lovingly looking down at her little companion as she peers up at her owner with crystal blue eyes.

Within minutes, the image had already clocked hundreds of thousands of likes and comments, some fans wondering how Taylor’s other feline might react.

Incidentally, as MTV News reports, the singer appears to have a habit of naming her animals after TV characters.
Her other cat, Meredith Grey, is named after the character played by Ellen Pompeo on hit US medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.

While Taylor now has another pet added to her pack, the star doesn’t appear to have plans to take much time off.

Recent reports have suggested the Grammy-winning songstress, who’s reportedly working on a follow-up to her 2012 album Red, is eager make her mark in Hollywood after dabbling with acting - including roles in rom-com Valentine’s Day and a cameo in US TV series New Girl.

“Taylor badly wants to be a movie star,” a source told RadarOnline earlier this month. “She’s determined to prove herself as an actress and not simply a singer who dabbles in movies.”

Later this year Taylor will be seen on the big screen opposite Meryl Strep in sci-fi movie The Giver. But apparently the star is looking forward to landing a leading role that doesn’t rely on her musical abilities.

“Taylor is now under pressure to make her first major movie deal. She has been offered the moon, technically, about $10 million, to make a concert film in the vein of Justin Bieber and Katy Perry‘s efforts, but Taylor’s policy of aiming high has put the kibosh on those plans," the insider added.

“She doesn’t just want to be known as a singer, so she’s trying to get aligned with some high profile, non-musical productions.”
