Harry Styles was reportedly upset by his rumoured ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift’s “nagging”.
The One Direction singer and the country music darling were dating for several months and it was thought their romance was getting serious.
During a romantic New Year’s getaway to the British Virgin Islands, the pair reportedly got into furious row with one another.
Taylor was seen flying back to the states solo on January 4.
Apparently the former couple’s relationship moved too swiftly for sustainability.
“Harry and Taylor had an incredibly intense relationship, and really did care strongly about one another,” a source told British newspaper The Mirror.
“Sadly it fizzled out just as quickly, and came to a head following a series of angry spats on holiday.
“Harry felt Taylor was nagging him, quizzing him on his intentions with various women and generally having very little faith in him.
"It all became too much and Harry found her a little too demanding.
“Taylor probably engineered the split but Harry held all the cards in the relationship.”
Taylor has dated a string of high-profile stars, and is known for writing songs about her failed relationships. She has also been linked to John Mayer and Jake Gyllenhaal.
