Sting doesn’t want to “curse” his relationship by giving away his happy marriage secrets.

The musician has been with Trudie Styler since 1982, with the pair marrying ten years later. He hates it when people ask him about his marriage as he worries discussing it in public will have an adverse effect.

“I don’t want to curse my marriage by saying I have a perfect marriage and this is how you do it. I don’t know how you do it. I can’t be that easy to live with. I’m married to a saint – that helps,” he laughed.

The star went on to talk about television talent shows. Sting isn’t sure what to make of programmes like The X Factor and American Idol, as he has doubts about how well equipped those who triumph are to deal with fame.

“I think it’s very difficult to be launched into the world from just simply trying out to becoming an international superstar overnight. I think it’s very psychologically difficult to cope with that. I’m full of admiration for those who do survive it but a lot don’t,” he told a UK TV show. “Whereas the slow way, of playing clubs and pubs and being booed off and all of that stuff… oh yeah, it happened to me.”
