Stevie Wonder is tangled in the federal indictment of a man charged with running a $200,000 concert ticketing scam.
Marc Hubbard, of North Carolina, is accused of scamming the University of Hawaii.
A grand jury on Wednesday returned a federal indictment against him, the Associated Press reports.
Hubbard, 44, is charged with wire fraud. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
Sean Barriero, 44, is also accused of moving money in the alleged scam.
An FBI investigation began this summer after school officials discovered neither the singer nor his representatives knew about a planned August 18 show.
University officials paid a $200,000 deposit to Hubbard and Barriero to secure the star in June, it is claimed. Thousands of tickets were refunded.
"No money went to Stevie Wonder or any entity authorized to represent Mr. Stevie Wonder," US Attorney Florence Nakakuni said during a news conference in Honolulu.
Hubbard surrendered to authorities in North Carolina and is awaiting a judge’s decision on whether he will be extradited to Hawaii.
Barriero is expected in federal court in Honolulu this week.
