Simon Cowell is worried his son will end up barking rather than talking.

The 55-year-old music mogul has little boy Eric, 17 months, with his girlfriend Lauren Silverman. He's been vocal about fatherhood and how he's raising his tot, joking that he thinks Eric will struggle to speak English in their colourful household. This includes his two pet pooches, who the little one can't get enough of.

“I have no idea what he is going to talk like, because his mum is American, I am English and a lot of the girls in my house are from the Philippines," he said, according to British newspaper The Daily Star.

“He spends most of his time with [our dogs] Squiddly and Diddly. He is going to end up barking.

“I can really see me in him now.”

Simon takes his pooches with him everywhere and intends to teach Eric about the importance of treating animals with respect.

The youngster celebrated his first birthday on Valentine's Day in February. Simon was eager to get stuck into planning his son's celebrations and gushed at the time how exhilarating parenthood is.

"I love being a dad. It's been easy and I can't believe it's a year already. It's gone by, like, snap, but he's a fantastic little boy," he told E! News at the time.

"I had no idea what it was going to feel like to be a dad, and I was always nervous about babies."

Eric is named after Simon's late father, who passed away in 1999. Simon's mother died earlier this month after battling a long illness.
