Simon Cowell is reportedly expecting a baby with the wife of his friend.

According to Us Weekly, the music mogul is set to become a father for the first time as New York socialite Lauren Silverman is pregnant. It has been alleged that Lauren is still technically married to Simon’s pal Andrew Silverman, but plans to leave her estranged husband to be with the TV star.

"She's around ten weeks along," a source told the publication. "Lauren and Andrew have been unhappy in their marriage for some time, and their divorce has been in the works for a while.”

It is believed that the famously acid-tongued talent judge fell for 36-year-old Lauren when she was experiencing problems with her spouse.

“As their marriage deteriorated, she and Simon became close,” the insider added.

Simon and Lauren are often seen together and the brunette is a regular guest when the 53-year-old holidays in St Barts.

Reports that Simon is set to become a dad may come as a surprise to some.

He has previously insisted he has no desire to have a family as it would force him to adopt a rigid routine.

"God, no. I couldn't have children,” the X Factor judge said in 2009. “If I had them here drawing on the walls I'd go nuts... You've got to be up at a certain time. Got to listen.”

In an interview last year, Simon appeared to have softened his opposition to children, but claimed he may have “missed the opportunity”. In April he revealed he liked kids and hadn’t “ruled out” being a father.

A spokesperson for Cowell is yet to comment on the allegations.

The star appeared on US talk show Chelsea Lately on Tuesday night, where he discussed his obsession with smoking.

Simon is rarely seen without a cigarette in his hand and admitted he even thinks about his habit during lovemaking.

“In fact sometimes while I'm having sex, I'm actually thinking I want to hurry up and finish so I can have a cigarette!” he laughed.

Simon also revealed he has been on a mission to combat his unhealthy fascination with nicotine in recent months.

“I had to go on a health kick because I have to balance smoking and drinking, which I do like. And then on the other side I exercise and then I have vitamin shots,” he said. “Like last night for example, I had a litre of injections being poured into me through a drip and at the same time I was having a couple of vodka and sodas. So it kind of makes it bearable!”
