The 49-year-old singer – who has two adopted boys, Wyatt, three, and 12-month-old Levi – loves taking her children on the road with her because they bring her so much joy.

She said: "It’s great! It’s just fun for me to have them around all the time. They are the people I love most and they’re teaching me everyday what life really is all about.”

The 'All I Wanna Do' hitmaker says the boys have an influence on her songwriting – because of the sleepless nights they give her.

She told Parade.com: “I think it has given me a different outlook on life and your life tends to inform your art. I get a lot less sleep, I can tell you that, so I can pull from my lack of sleep for some very inspired songwriting!”

Sheryl also revealed that she would love to be a vet if she wasn't a musician because she loves animals and wishes she was more knowledgeable when it comes to the livestock she keeps on her Nashville farm.

She said: “I would love to be a vet if I weren’t doing music. I love animals and always have. I have a farm full of horses and the vet is there all the time and I wish I knew as much as he knows.”
