Ed Sheeran is reportedly in the running to be best man at Courteney Cox's wedding.
The British singer is great pals with the former Friends star and even introduced her to Snow Patrol rocker Johnny McDaid, who she is now engaged to. The couple are said to be planning to tie the knot in Johnny's native Ireland later this year, with Ed apparently bagging a vital row in proceedings.
"Not only is Ed great mates with Johnny, he is a close friend of Courteney’s," an insider told British newspaper The Sun.
“Ed said yes immediately when asked. Johnny’s other best pal, singer Foy Vance, is also an usher.
“It’s between him and Ed for best man - they’ll probably share it."
Ed has stayed with Courteney at her home in Malibu and has also spent time with Johnny in Ireland in the past.
The couple recently travelled to the Emerald Isle and were seen shopping for rings in Derry, which is where he hails from.
As well as picking up some jewellery the couple are also thought to have checked out wedding venues, adding fuel to speculation they will exchange vows sooner rather than later.
This will be Courteney's second trip down the aisle - she was previously wed to actor David Arquette, who she has daughter Coco with.
"She has never been happier," the source explained. “And even though it’s her second marriage, she would like people important to her to be there."
Although the 50-year-old actress and 38-year-old musician are exchanging vows in Ireland, they will also celebrate their nuptials Stateside. Apparently they will hold a big party in Malibu to mark becoming Mr and Mrs.
Ed confirmed he had played matchmaker to Courteney and Johnny late last year, admitting he was thrilled to see them getting on so well.
“I wasn't allowed to talk about this, actually, but it's just gone public. My housemate, who I’ve lived with for a year, I introduced him to Courteney Cox,” he told OMG.
“They started dating and are crazy about each other and I ended up spending a lot of time living in her beach house and therefore bumping into all these random people. We spent Thanksgiving eve at Jennifer [Aniston]'s and Thanksgiving day at Courteney's."
