New Found Sound announced Edinburgh's Scrap Brain have been confirmed as the winner of the Friday Night Live band competition. The competition involved three rounds of Battle of the Bands-style live performances, the first two taking place in Edinburgh’s Frankenstein’s bar on George IV Bridge, and the final in Shanghai on George Street.
The Edinburgh-based female-fronted grunge trio, who have only been gigging since April 2010, triumphed over acts such as Sebastian Dangerfield, who have recently supported We Were Promised Jetpacks at Liquid Room, and Steve Heron, who will shortly be releasing his debut album.
Judges includes representatives from Detour Scotland, New Found Sound, Born to Be Wide and Leith FM, who were impressed by Scrap Brain’s explosive live performance.
As a prize, over the next five months, Scrap Brain will receive the following career developing tools:
