The DJ is currently being investigated by the Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control after her bulldog Cadillac attacked two-year-old Maltese named Tiger in her apartment building on Monday (30.08.10) and could even face jail or a serious fine.

Michelle Roache, Deputy Director for the department, said: "It's a pending criminal investigation. The attack is substantial. It's all up to the courts whether or not a person is going to lose the right to own the dog, or that the dog be euthanised, or that there's restrictions against the dog.

"They vary from sentences where the person can't own any dogs in the county of Los Angeles, to the court demanding the dog for euthanasia, or a lot of times they have to pay a fine. I haven't seen people jailed for an incident like this."

The bulldog is believed to have been allowed to be sent to stay with Samantha’s family members on the East Coast because it did not attack any humans.

Michelle told E! News: "We don't believe there was a bite to any person. If the dog has bitten a person it has to be quarantined for 10 days and we don't allow the dog to leave the state."

The department will also look into the bulldog’s past behaviour before deciding on a course of action.

She said: “We have to determine what provoked it and what’s going to be a good ending result for the dog. Most of these dogs are rehabilitatable.”

It has been reported that Samantha’s dog previously bit another dog in the building and had returned home less than a week ago from a three-week boot camp for socialisation.
