Rod Stewart has been busy with cover albums for the last nine years, but it's looking like he may finally dip his toes back into a bit of rock.

Rolling Stone has talked to Stewart who says the long discussed collaboration with Jeff Beck may be taking shape. The two last recorded albums together in 1968 (Truth) and 1969 (Beck-Ola) along with recording the song People Get Ready in 1985.

Stewart told Rolling Stone "Jeff and I had a lunch together just before Christmas. He's going up to record some tracks with his band in February in San Francisco and to send them over to me, so we're making progress."

Arnold Stiefel, Stewart's manager, also confirmed the possible collaboration by saying "They have some really clever things planned – it's mind-fucking stuff."
