Rita Ora has reportedly been "in tears" about her rift with Calvin Harris.
The couple dated for around a year, but in June the super DJ confirmed they had split, using Twitter to make the announcement. They had been working on tracks together before parting ways, including their smash hit I Will Never Let You Down.
As Calvin wrote the song, he has the final say on when it is performed and stopped Rita taking to the stage with it at the recent Teen Choice Awards. He apparently did the same at the MTV VMAs, with Rita upset about what's going on between them.
"Rita and her sister Elena tried everything in the week leading up to the VMAs. They were calling him constantly, begging him to let her perform," an insider told British magazine Heat. "She was in tears all week."
Calvin hasn't given any explanation for not allowing Rita to sing the track in public, only telling his Twitter followers he has a "damn good reason" for banning her.
The pair have also not commented on why they broke up. In the weeks running up to the announcement Rita gave a number of interviews in which she discussed the relationship, saying she was in love but it was hard spending so much time apart.
It's also been claimed that the former couple's current issues could impact Rita's second album. They worked together on it, but Calvin apparently doesn't want their collaborations to go public. It's rumoured this has pushed the release date back, although Rita recently insisted the LP was always supposed to hit stores next year.
"She's going to have to work like crazy now to get this album out," the source said.
"The album was scheduled for the end of the year - probably October - but he wrote most of it, apart from about two tracks."
